A San Antonio native, Juan Saldana is a highly experienced Firearms Instructor with a deep-rooted background in public education and school safety. With over 20 years of service as both a teacher and administrator, Juan has dedicated his career to creating safe and supportive learning environments while also fostering the development of responsible firearms practices.
Currently a teacher at Somerset ISD, Juan brings real-world expertise to the classroom and training field alike. For the past five years, he has served as a School Guardian, playing a critical role in school safety and emergency preparedness. In 2020, he spearheaded the development and implementation of the Guardian Program at Marathon ISD, a comprehensive initiative designed to train and arm select school staff in order to protect students and staff in the event of a critical incident.
Beyond his work in education and school defense, Juan is an avid and accomplished competitive shooter, with six years of experience competing in disciplines such as Steel Challenge, USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association), IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association), and 3-Gun competitions. His hands-on knowledge of marksmanship, tactical training, and competition strategy brings added depth to his instruction style.
Juan’s unique combination of educational leadership, school safety expertise, and competitive shooting experience positions him as a trusted authority in firearms instruction, particularly in contexts where safety, precision, and readiness are paramount.
